Using the Character Creator
The Character Creator builds a full character with you, step by step, and does all the math along the way. This guide walks you through it from login to a finished, playable character.
Before you start
You'll need an account, and a free one is all it takes. The free plan lets you create up to 5 characters. If you'd like to understand the choices before you click through them, "Make Your First Character" covers the same build by hand, but this guide stands on its own.
Getting oriented
The Creator follows the exact same steps as building a character by hand, so nothing here will surprise you if you've read "Make Your First Character." The difference is that it does the arithmetic for you and saves the finished character to your Vault.
Two things to notice as you go. A Character Wizard runs along the top, showing the step you're on and what's still ahead. And there's a level changer in the top right. We're making a Level 0 character, which is the default, so just leave that alone.
1. Start a new character
Log in, open your Character Vault, and click Create New Character. The Wizard opens on the first step.
2. Choose your Genotype
Pick the Genotype you want to play. It lists everything that choice gives you. Once you've selected one, click Customize and choose your Core Stat bonus.
You'll also see optional Lineage and Genetic Splicing options here, which change your stats and innate abilities. For your first character, skip those. Pick a base Genotype, take your bonus, and move on.
3. Choose your Background
Select a Background and you'll see its description and starting equipment. Then make your picks: your Skill Aptitudes, Toolkit Aptitudes, Languages, and a starting Weapon. Cybernetics are offered here too, and they're optional.
If you think you might want to play a Spell Weaver later, watch for the Creator's prompt about magic on this step. It warns you when a choice affects your future Spell Weaving, so read it before you continue.
4. Define your Persona
This is where your character becomes a person. Only the Name is required. Everything else is optional: height, weight, backstory, a picture to upload, Religion and Spirituality, a Personality Archetype, Alignment, even social accounts. Add as much or as little as you like now. You can always come back.
5. Elohim Resonance
This step defines your Anchor. The screen puts it plainly: every character has an Elohim, their soul, shaped by everything they have survived. You define the wound that made you and what it forged in you.
You'll set your Past Trauma, your Anchor State, and whether it's Resolved or Unresolved. All three are required to move on. Keep it simple for a first character. One true thing about who they are is plenty. The Elohim Resonance guide goes deeper when you're ready.
6. Core Stats and Defense Rolls
Choose how to set your stats: Point Buy, Standard Array, Random Rolls, or Manual entry. Point Buy is the friendliest for new players. Whichever you pick, the Creator works out your Core Stats and your Defense Rolls for you.
7. Spell Weaving
Every character starts with 5 ARC, your magical energy, and can choose a few Innate spells. Anyone can use the simplest Spell Weaving at first, so this is open to you even if you're not planning to be a Spell Weaver. It's optional, so take a spell or two if it fits your character, or skip it.
8. Equipment and Inventory
Review your loadout and add or swap anything you like before you finish.
9. Review and save
The Review step shows every choice in one place. Look it over, change anything that needs changing, then click Save Character.
You're ready to play
Once saved, you can download a PDF of your character sheet, or use the Virtual Character Sheet, our fully interactive, automated play sheet. Your character is now in your Vault, ready for the table.
