Alnirish
Spoken In: Sovereign Elven Dominion of Alnira (Lustra and its territories)
Evolved From: Sylvaneth (Pre-Fissure, Old Silvanean)
Script: Geometric glyphs, re-engineered from Sylvaneth Bamum
Type: Fusional, SVO
Common Use: Daily speech, scientific discourse, and governance within SEDA.
Alnirish is the daily tongue of the Sovereign Elven Dominion of Alnira. It descended from Sylvaneth, the pre-Fissure elven tongue, but the descent was extreme. The script was re-engineered from Sylvaneth's Bamum base into compact geometric glyphs. The grammar stayed fusional and SVO. Almost nothing else carried over. It handles daily speech, scientific discourse, and governance across SEDA.
Two words survived the crossing. Sylvaneth Erinor (magic, as in Erinor lainor sîra, "magic is forest's breath") became Alnirish Erinir, science. Sylvaneth Shara (song) became Alnirish zara, signal and speech, the root of the verb zar-. What the Silvanea call the breath of the forest, the elves of Lustra call the circuitry of the city. The words crossed the Fissure. Their meanings did not.
"I studied six elven dialects at the Xa Tor academy. Verdafall, Cryoshade script, even Veridia formal register. I went to Lustra and understood nothing. Not a single word. They didn't drift from us. They left."
— Archivist, Xa Tor

Prosody (Pitch Accent)
Alnirish carries a light pitch accent: one high-toned syllable per word, fixed on the first syllable of the root (marked with ´ in the IPA, e.g. Lexar /lék.sar/, Erinir /é.ri.nir/). This is the regularized remnant of Sylvaneth's tonal song. Where the ancestral tongue was sung with shifting tonal modes, Alnira compressed that melody into a single predictable signal tone: the forest's song became the city's signal. The gliding diphthongs (ai, au, ei, io) carry the remaining lyrical flow.
