EngineeringVTTUpdate
A big week. Every Spell in the game got a full pass, three subclasses went through tester rounds, the table picked up skins and a proper End Turn button, and the character sheet now explains the rules where you meet them. Here is everything that changed.
New: Table skins
- You can now choose a look for the table: Fantasy, Cyberpunk, Clean Neutral, Horror or Steampunk, alongside the original Einsol look, which stays the default.
- The GM picks the skin everyone at the table sees. Any player can choose their own on their device, and their choice wins for them.
- A skin covers the table interface, the character sheet, dialogs, heading fonts, and the map's selection, hover and Turn rings.
- Colors that carry meaning (damage, HP, Spell tiers, Conditions, warnings) stay the same in every skin, so nothing becomes harder to read.
- All five skins are dark for now. A light parchment look is a later step.
Running the table
- End Turn and Delay. Players can end their own Turn from the turn tracker, and Delay (1 AP) now lets you pick an ally who has not acted and passes the Turn to them in one step. It works on phones too. GMs get an End Turn button, and checking off the acting creature now runs its end-of-Turn effects properly.
- Who is actually at the table. Guests who joined by link now show as online or offline correctly. Logging out of the site also leaves the table, and an idle player no longer slips back in behind the "Disconnected" screen.
- Removing someone. A GM can remove a player or a guest from the table. They stay out until the GM lets them back in.
- Ending a session. Guests, spectators and tables with no Syndicate now get a clear "The Game Master has ended the session" card instead of a loading screen that never finished.
- Placing player tokens. Players in the roster are now picture tiles, the same as NPCs, with a plain instruction: drag a player onto the map to place their token. The GM tour has a step for it.
- Dice in the generic table's chat. On the system-agnostic table you can now build a roll: tap a die to add it (twice for 2d6), nudge the modifier with -1 and +1, then press Roll. The dice buttons are much bigger.
- Scene arrivals. Scenes can now open with a transition and a title card.
- Encounter music. Music now hands off between encounters with a fade, and remembers where it was.
- Safety tools. The X-card is fully anonymous: everyone sees the same notice and nothing records who tapped it. GMs can see a nameless summary of the table's session zero survey in the Safety drawer.
The character sheet explains itself
- Hover a Skill to see what it is for. On a touch screen, tap the small "?" instead. Core Stats have the same help, and so do creature sheets. The text is word for word from the rules page.
- Core rules where you meet them. Skill Checks and DC tiers, Edge and Hindrance, Critical Hits and Failures, what each action type costs, Overflow, Immunity, Resistance and Vulnerability, Exhaustion and Redline, HP Dice, Short and Long Rests, Breakthrough, Momentum and Resonance Points all have a "?" beside them now.
- "How your magic works." A new panel in Manage Spells lays out WAM, the Spell Weaving Check, Spell Attack, ARC, Memorized Spells and Loom Weaves, each with what it is made of and your character's real numbers. The Magic walkthrough has its launch button back.
- Magic numbers corrected. The Encoding Check now uses WAM as the rules say, the WAM box shows your live value and the right Stat, and every Spell row shows the AP its Weave button actually charges.
- Conditions and Injuries now show their help on touch screens, where it never appeared before.
Spells: every list finished
- All 421 Spells across all twelve Spell Lists have been gone through. Every rule written into a Spell now either does something on the sheet or is told to the table. This week covered the Aletheomancer, Neomachinist, Balladier, Novitiate, Hextaru, Dreamwalker and Innate Spells, and closed out Herald, Abyssal Warden, Merkabah, Monarch and the Disavowed Marks.
- Spells that begin with a choice now ask it, and the Spell List shows the options up front, so you no longer have to Weave a Spell to find out what it offers.
- Spells that make light now light your token, and Iridescent Light asks you for its color.
- Buffs for "allies" reach your allies. Astral Filtration, Bringer of Absolution, Mirage Matrix and Mindsync were being Woven, paid for and delivered to nobody.
- Summons behave. Guide of the Ethereal and Junkyard Titan now leave at 0 HP, the Guide can deliver your touch Spells, Synthetic Doppelganger is a true copy of your character, and amplified summons get the HP you paid for.
- Damage that was wrong or missing. Chain Lightning's second and third targets take the reduced dice the book gives them, Thunderstorm deals its damage every Round and Lightning Strike rolls its contest, Abyssal Barrier rolls all four of its dice, and Summon Tetorlaious Beast adds its flat damage bonus.
- Spells that did nothing now work, including Resuscitate, Spell Guard, Arcane Tether, Call on the Divine, Loop Pedal's three releases, and the second half of Countermeasure.
- Twist Luck now reaches all three creatures, and Zeitgeist stays anchored where it was Woven instead of following its Weaver.
- Witch Storm had its Radius and damage adjusted for balance.
Subclasses
- Aletheomancer levels 6 to 10 are open. The whole tier is wired, including the Upright and Reversed choices on its cards, along with all 33 of its Spells.
- Fixes that reached many subclasses at once:
- Attack bonuses from active effects were being counted twice across eleven subclasses.
- A button on effect cards was spending ten different multi-Round buffs on a single attack.
- Feats that reduce damage per point spent (Shadow Defenses, Let's Dance, Energy Conversion) took the points and never rolled.
- Eleven feats that deal damage on a trigger, across nine subclasses, had no way to roll it.
- Four level 10 upgrades changed nothing when taken.
Website and accounts
- Learn guides are free for everyone, and Lore articles are free unless they are marked for GMs.
- The Player tier is retired. Nothing can newly place an account on it, and the site no longer shows it. Credit already granted keeps counting down and is honored until it runs out. The Patreon tier descriptions on the Support Us page now match Patreon.
- Small fixes: the "Read why" link under "Buy your books. Own them forever." goes somewhere now, store search no longer shows results from an older keystroke, the notification bell no longer shows a previous account's notifications after switching, and search engines are pointed at the right address.
