Fame & Influence

On Adamah, media shapes public perception. Your reputation — whether Fame or Infamy — determines how the world treats you, what opportunities arise, and the bonuses or penalties you receive.

Reputation Tracks

Fame and Infamy are mutually exclusive tracks that shape how NPCs treat you. Fame is earned through heroic, benevolent, or influential acts — NPCs are more willing to help. Infamy is gained through criminal, violent, or dangerous deeds — it inspires fear and earns respect in criminal circles.

Fame

Earned through heroic, benevolent, or influential acts. NPCs are more willing to help, offer discounts, and provide information freely.

Infamy

Gained through criminal, violent, or dangerous deeds. Inspires fear in common folk; respected and valued in criminal circles.

How Charm Modifier Works

  • Fame + sympathetic NPC = positive modifier
  • Fame + hostile NPC (criminals, anti-establishment) = negative modifier
  • Infamy + sympathetic NPC (criminal circles) = positive modifier
  • Infamy + hostile NPC (law enforcement, civilians) = negative modifier

Gaining Reputation

Reputation is earned in three steps: perform the action, broadcast it, and calculate the total points gained.

Step 1 — Perform a Significant Action

The GM assigns base reputation points based on the scale of the act.

ActPointsExamples
Minor1Stop a mugging, steal from a shop
Moderate2–4Expose corporate corruption, rob a bank
Major5–10Reveal conspiracy, lead a gang war
Legendary11–15Save a city-state, orchestrate terrorism

Step 2 — Broadcast the Action

Media Check = Charm-based Skill Check vs DC from the Media Tier Table.

MediaDCMultiplierReach
Local News16×2City or town
Social Media18×3Regional/viral
National News20×4Entire nation
World News22×5Global coverage

Step 3 — Calculate Total Points

Reputation Points × Media Tier Multiplier = Total Points

Broadcasting Methods

Going Live

Real-time broadcast of the action as it happens. Requires a Streamer Toolkit or internet-connected device with a social media account.

Post to Social Media

Upload footage or a post after the fact. Requires recorded footage and a social media account.

Media Contact

Gain +5 to the Media Check. Requires a connection to a journalist or influencer, or payment for coverage.

Caught on Camera

An unintentional recording captures the act. The GM decides how much Fame or Infamy is gained.

Losing Reputation

Reputation can be lost through actions that contradict your current track, or through targeted efforts to diminish your standing.

Losing Fame

Fame can be lost through scandals, negative media coverage, or by shifting to Infamy through criminal acts. Public perception is fragile — a single viral scandal can undo months of goodwill.

Losing Infamy

Infamy can be reduced through heroic acts, public apologies or charity (requires a Charm Skill Check), or media rehabilitation through a sustained PR campaign.
